Tuitorial

Tuits - the round virtual currency within Hschooler.net. So, what exactly are tuits and what do they do? Tuits are used in the same way money is used in the real world. A few examples are:

  • Paying for services from Hschooler.net
  • To buy products or services from other members
  • As gifts to family or friends
  • A reward for a job well done

Of course to use them, you first must get them. You can find out how many you have by looking at the Account Status widget. (This widget can be added to your dashboard.) After you upgrade to a family account, the family will have 500 tuits. Although they are virtual, tuits cost real money. A single tuit is equal to one United States penny. In the Account Status widget, there is a link (Buy) to buy them with a credit card. Family and friends can give you more through their Account Status widgets by clicking on "Give". In the future, other members will be able to "tip" you with tuits for contributions you make to the community.

So now you know what they are, and how to get them. Now the fun part. Using them! Some of the features of Hschooler.net cost money to use. You pay for these by using your tuits. Parents can pay for these services for themselves, or they can authorize and get them for a family member through the Manage Access tool. Parents can get to this tool by clicking on a family member's name in the My Family widget. Other features have limited access for free, but to get more access you must spend tuits on them. A great example of this is the File widget. You must spend tuits to increase the amount of storage you get for photos and videos. Upgrades like this are also paid for through the Manage Access tool. As mentioned above, you will be able to to show your appreciation for a picture someone has, or an entry in a journal or blog that you appreciated by giving them a tuit tip. Now you know more about the virtual currency on this site known as the Round Tuit.
